It’s true, PHI must be protected and not having a Risk Assessment that is current and demonstrates due-diligence can be quite problematic.
I have used ACR2 for conducting risk assessments. It is an easy, convenient way to conduct a NIST 800-30 based assessment and covers the entire 800-53 control catalog.
