Prior to joining The McCart Group, Stephen spent 19 years working with national commercial insurance carriers, most recently serving as Product Manager and National Underwriting Director with CNA Insurance Company concentrating on the logistics, transportation and private fleet industries, both domestic and international. Mr. Adkins earned his Bachelor of Industrial Management from The Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University.

He has been a licensed life agent for 35 years and has been engaged in the life settlement industry since 1989 when the option came into the mainstream.

The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), Bank of America, and FORTUNE are proud to announce that they have selected 44 Atlanta-area companies for their annual Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC) program. This year the program received a record-setting 2,700 qualified company nominations from across the country and selected 415 companies for participation. Especially critical in today’s economic climate, ICCC identifies inner city businesses in need of growth capital, educates them on building capacity and accessing capital, and connects them with capital providers in order to grow their businesses and create jobs.

Four of the 44 Atlanta companies appear as guests on today’s show.

Kristine Nagel is Associate Vice-President of Educational Technology Development and Evaluation at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), where she has a leading role in planning and coordinating activities related to the design, development and implementation of new academic and instructional tools at the newest four-year institution in the University System of Georgia (USG). She works with faculty and staff to improve the learning environment through the appropriate use of new technologies. Kristine coordinates the college’s technology-evaluation activities with the other evaluation and assessment agencies in the college and the USG. She also manages the development resources of the Office of Educational Technology and provides guidance and design assistance in the development and deployment of technologies throughout the college. She also leads campus outreach initiatives to bring underrepresented populations into computing and to graduate, through focused mentoring programs and secondary school outreach activities.

Kristine earned her Ph. D. in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2006, her master’s in computer science from the Florida Institute of Technology, her master’s in secondary school supervision and curriculum from the University of Miami, Florida, and her bachelor’s in mathematics from Georgia State University. She has taught in higher ed, as well as K-12 and worked in software development for our space program, housing management, and teaching innovation.
